About Me

Hello, my name's Kevin. I'm ecstatic to have finally found a website dedicated to the New Guinean mammal fauna. My main interests are hydromyin murids ( Leptomys, Hydromys, Pseudohydromys, Baiyankamys etc.), tree-kangaroos, fruit bats, and the whole South Pacific region in general. I regularly correspond with Kristofer Helgen, and can relay any updates he grants as permissable. We can all continually look forward to many new species discoveries, and descriptions to come out of the region. I believe hundreds of mammals remain undiscovered in New Guinea and it's outlying archipelagos!

Hello Kevin; we would like to give you a warm welcome to this website. We will surely continue to update it on a weekly basis and hope to have completed it by the summer (2010).

It is great to hear that you share the same interest and passion in New Guinea mammmals and the groups you mention are surely some of the most interesting ones. Personally (S. Hogberg) I have a deep interest in Hydromys, Baiyankamys and Dendrolagus too.

There is certinely alot of mammals "hidding" away in remote places of New Guinea, but also in relatively well explored parts of the Island there is likely to be plenty of new mammals to discover.
